wedding thanks

Dear Friends Who Were At Or Wanted To Be At My Wedding:

Just about once a day I find myself flashing back to my wedding day, and trying to find the words to express how grateful I am. I’m grateful that everybody showed up, sure, but it goes so far beyond that.

A lot of our guests went above and beyond the call of duty that day, and some of them for a few days in advance. I simply can’t think of a way to say “thank you” loudly enough. The quality of my life has been steadily improving, and I feel as if the cosmos is rewarding me for making a wise decision.

And you were all there to see it. You drove down with a truck full of sound equipment, you made elaborate cakes, delivered carefully (if hurriedly) prepared speeches and you all supported us. It’s the support that makes me so glad. You supported us then and you support us today, and I’m perfectly thankful. It feels good.

I’m gaining a new appeciation of the concept of “forever,” both in terms of my commitment to my wife and my friendship with each of you.
