The Heat is Off

Since February, my wife and I have spent most of our non-working time thinking about buying a house, trying to buy a house, making offers, and ultimately buying a house.

We’re finally living in it.

But I hesitate to say that we “bought a house,” or that I’m a “homeowner.” Both of those things imply that the house is paid for. Really, we’ve merely agreed to buy a house and will be making payments until whatever the future brings. However, we are responsible for every aspect of it and the land it’s on, so I guess we own it in that sense.

Anyway, we have working air conditioning (I can walk around my house in Texas, in July, wearing pants! How’s that for luxury?), and we’re both very close to work. The dogs have plenty of space, and even the cats seem less weird.

We’ve already got plumbing problems that weren’t found during the inspection, so that’s fun.

I guess I just wanted to take a moment and thank you all for putting up with me over the last six months while we stressed about this next stage of adulthood.

And an extra thank you for those of you who have suffered my complaints about the heat for the last four years. You’re all still psychotic for living here on purpose, but at least now I know how you tolerate it.

  2. Do you mean to tell me you’ve lived in a domicile sans-air conditioning until now? That’s cwazy.

Oh, and congrats. I also look forward to the headaches of home pseudo-ownership in the near future.

  3. Congrats Bryan. IMO this is still one of the greatest fake news stories ever:
