See Rock Stupid

Oh, check it out. You know those birdhouses that people hang up on their front lawns with the phrase “SEE ROCK CITY” written on them?

Well…

Turns out that they’re not actually advertisements hung by family members of the cast and crew of “Detroit Rock City,” like you or I, or especially I, had assumed. Nope. It’s a slogan used by tourist attraction Lookout Mountain on the Tennesee / Georgia border. You go there, and it’s way up high, and you can literally see Rock City. The same slogan is used by Rock City, itself.

I figured the filmmakers wanted people to go see their movie, because nobody had, so they sent out these birdhouses. But they needed the words to be large enough to be read from the road, so they didn’t include the word “Detroit” on there.
