R.I.P. Us
Dear Mr. Berry,
Once upon a time this domain was yours. I don’t know what you used it for, or whether it served your purposes, but I remember being shocked to find (about a year ago) that it was available. I grabbed it as fast as I could.
This weblog (for lack of a better term) has been called re-run since 1999, with the original tagline of “What’s Happenin’, Bry?” It was just a little joke, really. I wanted to make an impression that the content on the site was fluid and impulsive.
Like your breakdancing.
Rerun, you taught an entire generation what it means to be funky and shake loose. You would bust out into your trademark (should-have-been-patented) arm-flailing dance at the merest hint of a suggestion. It was a deep love of life that came through in that dance, even as it was hilarious to watch.
I must say, I want to express the same thing with this web site. Now, don’t laugh. I know I’m white, and largely sheltered, but you should’ve seen me at karaoke this weekend. I rocked the mizzike, and had more than a dozen girls shaking their thang with me on stage to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.”
I think Rerun would have been proud.
