Cameraphone urban moblog

Not everybody understands tagging. Fortunately, in most cases, when a folksonomy is misapplied, nothing really bad happens as a result. Take flickr, for example.

Here are the instructions when you click “add a tag”:

It doesn’t actually say, “for example: cameraphone urban moblog“, but I would’ve thought it apparent that those were examples.

  1. I’m not surprised at all. To someone who has no concept of tagging, those instructions would be pretty bad.

    I haven’t had the pleasure, yet, but when I get to mock up a page with tagging, I’m going to use the label “Describe this:”

  3. I would enter “text box” in the “describe this:” entry area, especially if the text box is right after the label.

    Now, discuss amongst yourselves, I’ll give you a topic. Cameraphone urban moblog is neither cameraphone nor urban nor moblog. Discuss.
