Andy Budd, who makes web sites, wrote up this great piece about smart playlists over a year ago that I just discovered.
In short, the trick is to use smart playlists as criteria in subsequent smart playlists. It’s worth reading if, like me, you get bored easily with the music you’re listening to, and “Party Shuffle” fails to impress.
